Two men are dead after a BMW sport-utility vehicle crashed head-on into a Honda compact car on Folsom Lake Crossing early Saturday, police said.
Folsom police arrived at 12:28 a.m. to find a burning BMW and a totaled Honda, according to Sgt. Jason Browning, police spokesman. He said the BMW was traveling at extremely excessive speeds when it crossed the double yellow lines and hit the Honda compact. Both drivers died in the impact.
The identities of both men have not been released. There were no other people inside the vehicles.
The Honda driver's wife told police Saturday morning that her husband was in Folsom because he was the designated driver and had just finished dropping off his friends, Browning said.
Police are still investigating whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
