Quarterback Josh Johnson is expected to return tonight when the winless Mountain Lions play the Destroyers in Virginia Beach, Va.
Johnson, who played four seasons for the San Diego Chargers and was a late cut by the 49ers this season, suffered a knee injury in the Mountain Lions' season-opening 24-20 loss to Omaha and has missed two games, losses to Virginia and Las Vegas.
Tonight's 6 p.m. United Football League game at the 17,000-seat Virginia Beach Sportsplex will be on CBS Sports Network and 105.5 FM.
In last week's 20-9 loss to Las Vegas, Tyrell Sutton rushed for 145 yards on 23 carries and J.D. Washington had 45 yards on five carries for the Mountain Lions. Quarterback Jerrod Johnson, filling in for Josh Johnson, completed 13 of 30 passes for 144 yards.
The Destroyers (1-2), who beat the Mountain Lions 37-29 two weeks ago, are led by quarterback Chris Greisen (61 of 103 for 583 yards with three touchdowns) and former NFL running back Dominic Rhodes (52 carries for 172 yards).
The Mountain Lions play at Omaha on Tuesday before returning home for a Nov. 2 game against Virginia at Raley Field.
