A guide for what you need to buy, read or consume to enhance your recreation and travel experience

• Clif Shot Bloks Chocolate Cherry

Makers of energy packets for endurance athletes are constantly adding new, exotic flavors – forgetting, perhaps, that many runners and cyclists are creatures of habit and stick with what they like. In any event, the newest Clif Shot Bloks flavor is … chocolate cherry. At first, we squinched up our face. But, really, it was pretty tasty, perhaps a tad strong for those with sensitive stomachs, but worth a try. Plus, there's 50 milligrams of caffeine in them.

• Clif Bar Seasonal Flavors

For the 10th consecutive year, Clif Bar has produced "limited edition" holiday-flavored bars, which it will sell at retail locations. This year's offerings include Peppermint Stick, Spiced Pumpkin Pie and Iced Gingerbread. Stock up now if you crave these flavors, because they'll be gone by December.

CamelBak eddy Glass water bottle

Yes, we said "glass." In a departure for hydration providers, Camelbak has eschewed hard plastic and stainless steel to offer what it is calling a "taste-neutral" glass bottle. The eddy Glass is made from glass manufactured in France and wrapped in a silicone sleeve that protects the bottle from breakage yet still lets the user see the glass. The silicone is removable and the bottle is dishwasher-safe.

• "5 Must-Visit Sculpture Parks in the U.S."

Fodor's travel website highlights gardens that feature eye-catching sculptures. Alas, the UC Davis campus sculpture gardens didn't make the cut. But these five did:

1. Olympic Sculpture Park, Seattle

2. Storm King Art Center, Mountainville, N.Y.

3. Brookgreen Gardens, Murrells Inlet, S.C.

4. Coral Castle Museum, Miami

5. Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park, Skokie, Ill.

From comedian Andy Borowitz (@BorowitzReport): "By far, Lance Armstrong's darkest legacy will be that he convinced millions of men it was okay to wear bike shorts."
