WWII vet and author to tell of his POW years

Author Len Kovar is set to speak this week about his experience as a prisoner of war during World War II.

A second lieutenant and B-24 bombardier from Carmichael, Kovar was shot down over Eastern Europe in 1943 and spent nine months in a German prison camp.

He wrote about his struggle to endure imprisonment and forced marches in "WWII Prisoner of War: How I Survived."

Kovar, 90, will speak about his experience from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the community meeting room at the North Highlands/Antelope Library, 4235 Antelope Road, Antelope.
