Darren Bush, who guided the River Cats to Pacific Coast League division titles the past two seasons, was named the bullpen coach of the A's on Friday.
Bush will join A's manager Bob Melvin's staff as the club also announced that the bulk of the coaching staff will return next season for the defending American League West champions.
A replacement for Bush in Sacramento has not been named.
Bush is a veteran of the A's farm system. He led Double-A Midland to playoff berths in 2009 and 2010, including a Texas League Championship in 2009. Bush also led Single-A Stockton to the California League championship in 2008. He started his A's coaching career in 2005 as Stockton's hitting coach.
In Oakland, Bush replaces Rick Rodriguez, who served as the A's bullpen coach the past two seasons. Rodriguez, a former A's pitching coach, will take a minor league assignment within the organization, the club announced.

Marlins – A person familiar with Miami's managerial search says the team has interviewed Sacramento native Larry Bowa for the job.
The person confirmed the discussions to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Marlins aren't commenting on their search.
The person said Cincinnati Reds pitching coach Bryan Price also interviewed for the job. A third candidate is former major league catcher Mike Redmond, who interviewed earlier this week.
Bowa, 66, last managed in 2004, when he finished his fourth year with the Philadelphia Phillies. He managed the San Diego Padres in 1987-88 and has a career record of 418-435.
The former Gold Glove shortstop, a graduate of McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College, has been an analyst the past two years for the MLB Network.
White Sox – Chicago has announced the promotion of Ken Williams from general manager to executive vice president and Rick Hahn from assistant GM to senior vice president and general manager. The team also named Howard Pizer as senior executive vice president.
Red Sox – Boston has named Torey Lovullo as bench coach under new manager John Farrell.
The move came six days after Farrell was named manager after the Red Sox went 69-93 in their only season under Bobby Valentine, who was fired the day after it ended.
Lovullo, 47, was Toronto's first-base coach the past two seasons.
Padres – Right-handers Dustin Moseley and Tim Stauffer have become free agents after clearing outright waivers by San Diego. Both were on the 60-day disabled list when the move was announced.
Stauffer had surgery to repair tendon damage in his pitching elbow on Aug. 31.
Moseley had season-ending shoulder surgery in late April.
Royals – Kansas City has claimed pitcher Chris Volstad on outright waivers from the Chicago Cubs.
