Enjoy the stellar fall clime over the next few days in Sacramento, but keep the umbrellas handy for midweek.
The National Weather Service today reported that a low-pressure disturbance is swooping in over the eastern Pacific and should bring a fast-moving storm to Northern California in the coming days.
Sunshine and high temperatures in the middle to upper 70s are expected Monday and Tuesday. But Craig Shoemaker, meteorologist in Sacramento, said the Sacramento area is in line for rain late Wednesday.
"Right now, it's a fast-moving storm system," Shoemaker said. "It will bring a reasonable shot at precipitation. But because it's fast-moving, we don't expect heavy rainfall or snowfall over the area."
Unlike last week's storm, which brought rain, some tornadoes and cold, the rainfall arriving Wednesday will produce a relatively moderate temperature dip.
"We're looking for temperatures to continue in the 70s" early in the week, he said, adding, "It will gradually cool off through midweek."
Expect temperatures by Friday to return to the low 70s, which is about normal for this time of year, Shoemaker said.
Next weekend?
"It looks pretty nice again," he said, "with above-normal temperatures."
