Roseville police say that two teenage girls missing since Thursday have returned home, and their earlier story of being held against their will does not check out.
A police spokeswoman said the two are safe at home in Roseville. Officers have spoken to the girls at length today and determined that they left last week on their own.
Both girls sent text messages to their fathers Thursday night saying they were with males who wouldn't let them leave.
Melissa Perez, 16, and Angelina Loredo, 14, asked their families not to call police, but said they were scared and couldn't phone or text again.
Police said today that their accounts of being held against their will were not true.
"Our officers and youth services are taking appropriate steps to follow up," stated a police press release.
Roseville officers and family members had searched for the girls.
