California Automobile Museum. "A Tribute to Speed," the annual benefit and auction, will be from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the museum, 2200 Front St. In the speaker spotlight will be Justin Bell, television host of "The World's Fastest Car Show," correspondent on Jay Leno's Garage, and automobile racer. Bell, whose father is five-time Le Mans champion Derek Bell, won the FIA GT2 World Championship in 1997 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. On display will be the 1992 Le Mans Porsche 962. Auction items will include a day at Skip Barber High Performance Racing School, eats and drinks at Ink, mixology flight for four at Red Rabbit, dinner for four at Maranello, barrel tour of Scribner Bend, vintage warbird ride for three, lunch at Jamie's, and a night on the town in a vintage Jaguar. Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento 1032. The third annual Carnivale Grande Ball will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Elks Tower, 921 11th St. On the program: Monte Carlo-style gaming, silent auction, raffle, heavy hors d'oeuvres, dancing and live entertainment. A single ticket in advance is $45 and includes two drinks (beer or wine); tickets at the door will be $55. Black tie is requested for the party; must be 21 to attend. Proceeds will benefit the Assistance League and its many projects including Operation School Bell and A Touch of Understanding which provides disability awareness programs. Sacramento-Suburban Kiwanis. The 21st annual Beaujolais Plus wine tasting and silent auction will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Dante Club, 2330 Fair Oaks Blvd. Along with the wine tasting, the party will include appetizers, dinner and an auction of art by Northern California artisans. Proceeds will benefit charitable organizations, including the Kiwanis Family House helping families with children undergoing treatment at UC Davis Medical Center and high school Key Clubs teaching teens the value of community service.
Kondos Gallery. The gallery at Sacramento City College has a pair of fundraisers on the calendar beginning with Birdhouses 3 opening with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8. Featured at the third annual event will be birdhouses created by artists. The display will continue through Nov. 28. The holiday sale will begin with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 with sale hours continuing through December. Call (916) 558-2559. Rocklin School District. The 12th annual wine tasting and community dinner and art show will be Saturday at the Rocklin Event Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd., Rocklin. Appetizers, art show and wine tasting will be from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by dinner with entrees by 25 community chefs. Among the chefs will be members of Rocklin City Council, Rocklin School Board, superintendent of the Rocklin School board, Rocklin residents, six student chefs from the Whitney High School culinary program, and two student chefs from Springview Middle School. The Gathering Inn. "Splendor of the Trees" will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Sunset Whitney Golf Course. The Gathering Inn provides services to homeless families in Placer County. In the first half of 2012, The Gathering Inn provided 9,170 safe bed nights, and more than 8,709 were served at the resource center and 165 seen at the Saturday Community Clinic.
Women's Wisdom Art. Works by artists in the Women's Wisdom program will be on display beginning Nov. 7 through Jan. 9 at Café Dantorel, 2700 24th St. A pair of Second Saturday receptions are planned at the cafe with the first from 5 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 and the second from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 8. PEO Chapter EI. Two fundraisers are planned to raise funds for women's education. A Bottling Experience will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 10 at Vintner's Cellar (Highway 50 and Hazel Avenue).
