Is it that time already? Get set to fall back to Pacific Standard Time – and gain an hour.
Before going to bed tonight, turn back the clocks. Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday. That's when we officially switch back to Pacific Standard Time and get back the hour we lost in March.
Use this semiannual ritual as a reminder to take care of other household chores:
• Change the batteries in smoke alarms and carbon monoxide monitors.
• Change the filters in home heating systems.
You'll save energy and money, too – and sleep better during your extra hour.
GARDEN CHECKLIST
• November in Sacramento is the ideal time to transplant groundcover plants as well as small evergreen trees and shrubs. Fall weather also is perfect for planting most perennials.
• Speaking of perennials, divide and replant overcrowded agapanthus, daylilies and Shasta daisies.
• In the vegetable garden, plant from seed fava beans, bok choy, Swiss chard, garlic, leaf lettuce, mustard, onion sets, radicchio, radishes, shallots and spinach.
• Set out transplants of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, fennel, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce and peas.
• For spring flowers, plant California poppies, cornflower, larkspur, scabiosa and sweet peas.
• Plant daffodils, Dutch iris and other spring bulbs.

• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
