With 193,000 ballots yet to be counted, all GOP Rep. Dan Lungren and Democrat Ami Bera, separated by just 184 votes, can do is wait … and watch.
Representatives from the two 7th Congressional District campaigns are on hand as officials process and count vote-by-mail ballots dropped off at the polls by Election Day.
They aren't the only ones watching at the county office. Staff and volunteers from other contested races, including Sacramento City Council District 4, and aides from a congressional committee that oversees federal election results were among several dozen observers who signed in to watch Thursday.
Officials plan to provide an updated vote count Friday afternoon.
