The NBA announced Thursday that Kings rookie forward Thomas Robinson has been suspended for two games without pay for elbowing Detroit forward Jonas Jerebko in the throat in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's win at Sleep Train Arena.

Robinson said Thursday he was "100 percent" at fault. He will miss tonight's home game against the San Antonio Spurs and Sunday's game against the Lakers in Los Angeles.

Robinson, who will lose $82,308 in salary, can return Tuesday when the Kings host the Portland Trail Blazers.

"Unfortunately, I'm not perfect," said Robinson, drafted fifth overall in June. "I would love to be, but I made a mistake. It rarely happens to me. I've never been in that type of situation before. I've never been ejected from a game or anything (like that).

"I definitely take full responsibility, and I apologize to the whole organization, the fans and everybody who supports me. It won't happen again."

Robinson was assessed a flagrant foul 2 for the incident, which occurred with 10 minutes to play, and ejected from the game.

Robinson and Jerebko were briefly entangled while pursuing a loose ball when Robinson swung his elbow. Jerebko stayed on the court trying to catch his breath and remained in the game.

Robinson obviously was bothered by Jerebko's play as he pleaded his case to the game officials. Thursday, Robinson attributed his action to "just frustration."

"It's nothing he did," Robinson said. "Chirping is part of the game, and that's something I have to adjust to. These guys are professionals – whether it's trash talking, whatever, they're pros. He got under my skin, and I let it get to me. So it was a mistake."

Kings coach Keith Smart said Robinson is a "quality young man" and the incident was out of character.

It's also something Robinson must learn from.

Jerebko isn't notorious for irritating players, and teams now will try to irk Robinson to get him off his game.

"In this league here, you're going to be pushed, agitated, all types of things to get you out of your comfort zone," Smart said. "Overall, you've got to be able to fight through those type of things."

After practice, Smart, Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie, general manager Wayne Cooper and assistant general manager Shareef Abdur-Rahim spoke with Robinson before he addressed the media.

Robinson said the message was simple: He must make smarter decisions.

The Kings said they would support Robinson.

"It's something he regrets doing," said forward Jason Thompson. "And he'll never have a situation like that again. We all learn from our mistakes."

Robinson said he didn't have a chance to speak to Jerebko but said he would apologize if he could and hoped he was "OK."

"I felt worse (Thursday) after the outcome of it," Robinson said. "I knew I was wrong, so as a man I have to take responsibility with that and take my consequences and move on.

"And hopefully this doesn't stick with me. I'm not that type of person; I'm not a bad kid. I just made a mistake, and it won't happen again."
