Gem of a show
What: Featuring crystals, fossils, beads, gemstones, meteorites and gold, Sacramento's 76th annual Gem and Jewelry Show will sparkle at the Scottish Rite Temple. The Sacramento Gem and Mineral Society is presenting the event.

Focus on salmon
What: People of all ages can join a naturalist from the Effie Yeaw Nature Center for a free hike highlighting the annual migration of chinook salmon.

What: The family-friendly Old Sacramento Underground Tour has expanded its schedule through Thanksgiving weekend, plus extended its tour season through the first two weekends in December. Visitors can uncover the facts behind the legends that lie below historic buildings and sidewalks. For the hourlong guided walking tours, guests should check in at the Sacramento History Museum before descending below several historic Old Sacramento buildings. Participants should be prepared to walk in areas with uneven surfaces and low ceilings.

What: The Sacramento Children's Home is hosting a "Gala at the Gallery" fundraiser for its Crisis Nursery Program at Macy's Roseville Furniture Gallery. There will be entertainment by the Cat Stevens Tribute Band, four free design seminars and special offers on select merchandise. The Crisis Nursery Program offers emergency or overnight care for children 5 and younger whose families face difficult or stressful situations.

What: The Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento will host a Carnivale Grand Ball at the Elks Tower in Sacramento. The black-tie event will feature live dancing, entertainment and Monte Carlo-style gambling. Proceeds will go to A Touch of Understanding and the Assistance League of Sacramento.
