MATCHUP TO WATCH

Raiders QB Carson Palmer vs. Ravens safety Ed Reed

After going head-to-head with Reed for years in the AFC North as quarterback of the Cincinnati Bengals, Palmer rekindles his rivalry with perhaps the best defensive back this past decade. Reed has 60 career interceptions – three this season despite battling knee and shoulder injuries. With running backs Darren McFadden and Mike Goodson out with injuries, Palmer will have to challenge Reed and the Ravens as he seeks his 10th win in 14 career starts vs. Baltimore. Palmer's 3,202 passing yards against the Ravens is the most by any quarterback.

THREE KEYS TO GAME

• With McFadden and Goodson out, the Raiders' running game belongs to Taiwan Jones – a fourth-round pick last season who has played mostly on special teams – and fullback Marcel Reece. Jones has carried the ball once for two yards and Reece once for no gain. It does not bode well for the Raiders, playing a team that has won 14 straight home games (longest current streak in the NFL) and 19 of its past 20.

• The Raiders' defense will need to step up its game at the line of scrimmage – which will be without tackle Richard Seymour – and in the secondary. While the Raiders were chewed up by Tampa Bay's Doug Martin for 251 yards and four touchdowns, Oakland's secondary has given up 14 touchdowns this season. Baltimore running back Ray Rice needs one yard to reach 5,000 in his career.

• As 7 1/2-point underdogs coming into Baltimore, the Raiders will have to limit their mistakes – meaning turnovers and penalties. The Raiders had three turnovers in their first four games (1-3 record), but have had 10 in their past four (2-2 record).
