  • Grand Marshal Gunnery Sergeant Nicholas A. Popaditch waves during the procession at the 2nd Annual Veterans Day Parade at the Capitol Mall in Sacramento. During his second deployment, Popaditch commanded tanks in the first battle of Fullujah in April 2004. During the battle on April 7, he was wounded in action in an ambush when a rocket propelled grenade struck him in the head. He suffered the loss of his right eye and hearing in his right ear.
