Re "Mushrooms kill two seniors" (Our Region, Nov. 11): Speaking from personal experience, it isn't a good idea to eat toadstools. I thought I knew all about mushrooms, and had safely consumed wild fungi many times for years. I found some that looked just like safe ones growing nearby, and put them on half a pizza. My husband wisely abstained. I have never been so sick. Luckily after a trip to the ER, I only WISHED I were dead; my liver and kidneys were intact. I will never eat wild mushrooms again.
The folks running the care home where the seniors died may have confused the deadly California mushrooms with edible mushrooms from their homeland in Europe. The ER doctor told me that this is a common tragic mistake made by European immigrants to the western United States.

• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
