While the DeMarcus Cousins awaits word on his appeal to have his two-game suspension reduced to one in time for tonight's game against the Portland Trail Blazers, we'll assume he won't be playing.
So with no Cousins how can the Kings end their two-game losing streak?
Here are five ways:
1. Reke Havoc: We're still waiting for Tyreke Evans to have a breakout game this season. His best game of the season still might be the first of the season. With no Cousins there's no reason for Evans to not be more assertive on offense.
2. Gang rebound: The Blazers don't have the imposing size of the Lakers, but it will still take a collective effort not having Cousins on the glass. It helps that Thomas Robinson is back from his two-game suspension.
3. Jimmer's jumpers: The Kings need someone that can make a perimeter shot and Jimmer Fredette give them their best chance of that. Kings coach Keith Smart said he would find more time for Fredette to help the lagging offense.
4. Defensive discipline: The Kings cannot foul excessively if they are to have a chance to win. Without Cousins, there isn't the depth to withstand having to play small against the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge.
5. No excuses: Keep the focus on the game, not the officials. If there's a bad call don't stop playing or let that change your effort.
