Sacramento businessman Tony Lutfi has made a deal to purchase 42 Arby's restaurants in Seattle and Portland, Ore., Arby's Restaurant Group Inc. announced Tuesday.
The restaurants were previously owned by the Arby's company. Lutfi is president and CEO of Marlu Investment Group in Sacramento.
Arby's, based in Atlanta, said Lutfi has committed to remodeling at least 17 restaurants purchased in the Seattle/Portland markets and building five new Arby's sites over the next several years.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Lutfi already owns and operates 78 restaurant franchises under the Arby's, Jack in the Box, Church's Chicken, Sizzler and Little Caesars brands, plus 14 Sears Home Appliance Showrooms. Those sites are spread over California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas and Missouri.
"The timing has never been better to invest with Arby's and work with the seasoned management team to usher in a new era for the iconic brand," Lutfi said.
