It was a rough Thanksgiving day for a half-dozen families forced to flee their Citrus Heights apartment complex by a fire late Wednesday.
The blaze started in the bedroom of one unit at 7747 Greenback Lane, said Metro Fire spokeswoman Michelle Eidam.
Firefighters, who were called about 10:30 p.m., managed to contain the fire but were forced to evacuate adjoining apartments.
Five additional units experienced minor smoke and water damage, and residents of all six units were displaced, Eidam said.
No injuries to firefighters or residents were reported.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
