MATCHUP TO WATCH

Bengals DT Geno Atkins vs. Raiders LG Cooper Carlisle

The Raiders' recent pass-happy ways must have Atkins salivating this week. He leads all defensive tackles this season in sacks (eight) and tackles for loss (11), along with forcing three fumbles. Though a bit undersized, the 24-year-old rusher makes up for it with strength and quickness. Carlisle will have to play a sound game to give Carson Palmer time to go through his progressions. The Raiders have protected Palmer fairly well this season, ranking 12th in the NFL in sacks allowed (20), despite Palmer attempting the fourth-most passes by quarterbacks.

THREE KEYS TO GAME

• The Raiders need to make stops, period. They've given up 135 points during their three-game losing streak, the most for the franchise since before Al Davis took over. Getting off the field on third down is key; the Bengals have the fourth-lowest third-down conversion rate in the NFL at 31 percent.

• Palmer and wide receiver Denarius Moore need to regain their chemistry. Moore leads the Raiders in receiving yards, but he has caught just nine of the 24 passes thrown his way in the last three games and had one catch for nine yards last weekend against the Saints.

• Filling in for the Raiders' injury-depleted backfield last week, Marcel Reece showed he can be a versatile weapon out of the backfield with 103 rushing yards and 90 receiving yards. His ground production will help the Raiders be more balanced on offense.
