Konner Veteto scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Sac State men's basketball team to a 71-68 come-from-behind victory at Central Arkansas, according to Sac State's website.
The Hornets (4-1) trailed the Bears (1-3) by as much as 13 in the second half before going on a 21-5 run to take a 63-60 lead with 5:15 left.
Veteto (Placer High School) scored six of his points during the stretch, including back-to-back baskets to tie the score.
Senior Julian Demalleville contributed two three-pointers during the run, and sophomore Mikh McKinney gave the team the lead with a three-point play.
The Hornets never relinquished control of the game en route to the win. The Bears pulled within one, 69-68, on a three-pointer from Jarvis Garner with 28 seconds to play.
UC Davis women
Sydnee Fipps scored a career-high 28 points, Cortney French added 16 and the UC Davis women's basketball team never trailed in a 77-64 victory over Houston Baptist on Saturday at the Houston Baptist Husky Classic, UC Davis reported.
The Aggies picked up their second straight win to move to 2-2 on the season while Houston Baptist falls to 2-5.
French was named the Husky Classic Tournament MVP after averaging 19.5 points per game.
French scored a career-high 23 points against Navy on Friday, her season debut, then went on to score 16 points against Houston Baptist on Saturday.
French shot 8 of 17 from three-point range, which helped lead the Aggies to back-to-back wins.
Fipps was named to the All-Tournament team after topping her career high for the third time this season and finishing in double digits for the fourth consecutive game.
She hit 9 of 16 from the field, including four three-pointers, and was a perfect 6 of 6 in free-throws.
