Sacramento Metropolitan firefighters fought an aggressive fire at a vacant store in Carmichael that left $300,000 in damage in its wake, according to authorities.
Firefighters responded to the fire at a strip mall at 6340 Fair Oaks Boulevard about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the fire district. Crews from nine engines and five trucks extinguished the blaze without any injuries and only minor damage to one of two neighboring businesses.
Fire crews had been in the store recently and noted the instability of the roof. That knowledge assisted firefighters in battling the blaze safely, the news release noted.
Investigators have determined that the fire was caused by arson. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call the Arson Tip Line at (916) 859-3775.
