The Bee's Jeff Caraska shares five lessons learned over the last seven days.
• The last three football teams Granite Bay has defeated are a combined 27-6. The Grizzlies outscored them by a combined 145-27.
• The CIF State Cross Country Championships are not supposed to be considered a series of fun runs. Still, it was hard to say anyone had more fun than Granite Bay freshman Maggie Bell, who won the Division II girls race by nearly four seconds.
• Oak Ridge plays its first day game this year and turns the lights out on an undefeated Burbank team that appeared headed for a much sunnier conclusion to its football season.
• Volleyball in the Sac-Joaquin Section, particularly the Sacramento area, can stand with any section. Exhibit A: St. Francis advances to the state final after its NorCal Division I win over Granite Bay. Exhibit B: El Camino plays in the NorCal D-II final.
• With any luck, the first football playoff game between Del Oro and Elk Grove won't be the last. The two respected programs play a game that would be worth owning on DVD.

• Don't repeat the same comment over and over. We heard you the first time.
• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
