SUNDAY
49ERS AT RAMS
Time: 10 a.m.
TV/radio: FOX40, 1320
Line: 49ers by 7
Records: 49ers 8-2-1, Rams 4-6-1
The skinny: San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh seemed amused when asked if this would like a continuation of the 24-24 tie of Nov. 11 the first NFL draw since 2008. But he definitely was not amused by the questioning about going with Colin Kaepernick over Alex Smith, who sustained a concussion against St. Louis but is healthy again. "The rationale is you've got two quarterbacks that we feel great about as the starting quarterback," said Harbaugh, a former NFL quarterback. "Both have earned it. Both deserve it.
What tips the scale, is Colin, we believe, has the hot hand and we'll go with Colin. And we'll go with Alex. They're both our guys." Confused? The Rams probably are, too.
PATRIOTS AT DOLPHINS
Time: 10 a.m.
TV: Ch. 13
Line: Patriots by 7 1/2
Records: Patriots 8-3, Dolphins 5-6
The skinny: An unstoppable offense (407 points, 80 more than the next team), incredible turnover margin (plus-24, AFC-high 32 takeaways and conference-low eight giveaways) and a five-game winning streak have lifted New England back to its accustomed role as one of the favorites for the Super Bowl. And Miami rarely challenges the Patriots, who have won 12 in a row overall in December. In their past four wins at Miami, the Patriots have averaged 44 points a game.
STEELERS AT RAVENS
Time: 1:25 p.m.
TV: Ch. 13
Line: No line
Records: Steelers 6-5, Ravens 9-2
The skinny: Baltimore won in Pittsburgh two weeks ago, and the Steelers are reeling with little passing offense as Ben Roethlisberger recovers from shoulder and rib injuries. This is one of the NFL's most intense rivalries, and the last thing the Steelers want is to put Baltimore in position to grab the AFC North. Ray Rice gained 30 yards on fourth and 29 with the game on the line in last week's win at San Diego. No matter what the Ravens do the rest of the season that figures to go down as the play of the year.
EAGLES AT COWBOYS
Time: 5:20 p.m.
TV/radio: Ch. 3, 1320, 1380
Line: Cowboys by 10
Records: Eagles 3-8, Cowboys 5-6
The skinny: Dallas is on the fringe of playoff contention, which is a lot more than anyone can say about Philadelphia. As the Andy Reid era winds down, the Eagles have lost seven in a row, including to the Cowboys three weeks ago. This is an opportunity for the Cowboys to even their record, but they've lost their past eight Sunday night games.
MONDAY
GIANTS AT REDSKINS
Time: 5:30 p.m.
TV/radio: ESPN, 1320
Line: Giants by 2 1/2
Records: Giants 7-4, Redskins 5-6
The skinny: These teams played one of the season's best games, a 27-23 win by New York on Oct. 21. Rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III has helped Washington climb back into wild-card contention, and a victory here would put them one game behind the defending Super Bowl champions in the NFC East.
