A trust fund has been established for the children of Roy Marcum, the animal control officer who was fatally shot at a foreclosed house in Galt.
Marcum, 45, had gone to the residence Wednesday to pick up animals there when he was hit by a blast from a shotgun from an assailant hiding behind the front door.
A suspect, Joseph Francis Corey, 65, who had been evicted from the Galt home after losing it to foreclosure, has been arrested in the case.
Donations for the Marcum children can be made to the Memorial Fund for Roy Marcum through any branch of Premier West Bank. The account number for the fund is 82804846.
People sending checks should note the account number on the check's memo line. Checks should be made payable to the Memorial Fund for Roy Marcum and sent to Premier West Bank, 9340 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, CA 95624.
People seeking more information on the fund may call (916) 685-6546.
