Re "New weapon wielded in gun politics" (Forum, Dec. 2): Certain fallacies in Senior Editor Dan Morain's column need to be corrected.
The National Rifle Association does not support any legislation that would put firearms in the hands of any convicted felon.
HR 822 would not abrogate states' rights. It would simply reinforce the Second Amendment for law-abiding citizens. Lies perpetrated by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg do not change that.
Do we accept his lackey's definition of "prudent gun laws"? If he refers to laws in Detroit, Chicago and Washingon D.C. as prudent, does he forget what the crime rates are in those enlightened cities? Does he ignore the fact that our nation's capital is a murder capital where politicians try to deny its citizens the right to defend themselves, a right guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution?
Morain also ignores the fact that his precious right to free speech is also in the Constitutioin. Why don't we take that away?

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.

You also may notify us via email at feedback@sacbee.com. Note the headline on which the comment is made and tell us the profile name of the user who made the comment. Remember, comment moderation is subjective. You may find some material objectionable that we won't and vice versa.
