The dense fog that Sacramentans woke up to this morning should be gone by noon, according to the National Weather Service.
"Recent rain, light winds, cool temperatures," said Johnnie Powell, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Sacramento, explaining how the fog forms. "The only way you get rid of it is to blow it out or rain it out."
By noontime today, temperatures are expected to reach 60 degrees, which Powell said was "as good as it gets in December." The average high for this time of year is 56 degrees, he added.
The weather service predicts highs in the 60-degree range through Tuesday, with the next bout of rain arriving on Wednesday.
