Steve Miklos, a member of the Folsom City Council since 1994, has been chosen unanimously by his council colleagues as mayor for the coming year.
The Folsom City Council on Monday night also unanimously selected Councilman Jeff Starsky as vice mayor.
Miklos, a licensed real estate broker, said in a press statement that he looks forward to the challenges ahead and to "enhancing our community's outstanding quality of life."
To date, Miklos has served eight terms as mayor and four terms as vice mayor.
He is a director and former chairman of the Sacramento Area Council of Governments and previously served as chairman of the Sacramento Local Agency Formation Commission. He also is chairman of the Folsom Economic Development Corporation.
Starsky has served on the City Council since 2000 and served as mayor in 2002 and 2010. He also served two terms as chairman of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District.
