Re "Obama, GOP hold line as 'fiscal cliff' talks seem stalled" (Page A6, Dec. 13): I'm confused about all the commotion that, as part of the 'fiscal cliff', the middle class will be hit with a big tax increase if the Bush-era tax cuts expire.
But for more years, the Democratic Party, the liberal pols (including President Barack Obama, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, etc.), the mainstream media, and all the liberal websites and bloggers, have been saying that the Bush tax cuts were "tax cuts for the wealthy."
Under that thinking, if we do nothing and tax rates revert to the pre-Bush era, then it must be tax increases for the wealthy, which is what they want, right?
My question is: Have they been lying to us for 10 years or are they just lying to us now?
