In light of the shooting today in Newtown, Conn., a letter has been sent by the Elk Grove Unified School District to parents reminding them that proper protocols are in place in terms of safety.
"We are getting a few phone calls so we just wanted to reassure parents that we have our safety measures in place," said Elizabeth Graswich, district director of communications.
I am sure that you are aware of the terrible tragedy that took place in a Connecticut elementary school earlier today. Our hearts go out to the families, staff and community members impacted by this horrific loss.
Be reassured that the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. Our safety measures, including those related to situations similar to the one that occurred in Connecticut today, are up-to-date. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the school."
The letters were signed by each school's principal.
