Sacramento sports fans are caught in a Catch-22 when it comes to the Kings and the Maloofs.
Go to games: Put money in the pockets of owners who might soon break your heart and move the team to another city.
Don't go to games: Contribute to the owners' possible argument that they have no choice but to leave since Sacramento isn't supporting the team.
The Kings are 29th in the league in attendance, averaging a reported 12,874, though anyone can see the arena hasn't been close to three-quarters full most games. At least several thousand folks with tickets aren't using them and have been unable or unwilling to sell them on the secondary market. (How about donating them to a youth charity, since you've already given the Maloofs your money?)
We have an idea for those fans who want to support the team the players and coaches but don't want to give the Maloofs anymore money.
Buy tickets on the secondary market seats for today's game against the Denver Nuggets on StubHub on Saturday were as cheap as $3.99 in the upper deck and $13 in the lower level share a ride with friends so you don't each pay $12 to park, and pack a cooler or two for a pregame feast in the parking lot.
Grab three buddies and head to a game; it's only going to cost $6.99 each to see professional basketball.
But don't forget to leave your credit cards at home so you won't be tempted to buy one of those high-profit foam fingers or overpriced cheap beer.
