Details: Recipients of the ACE are nominated by dispatch centers and motor clubs. Those chosen have the highest percentage of calls when the estimated time of arrival is achieved, receive written appreciation from customers and show a high level of professionalism. ACE recipients are said to rank in the top 1 percent of the towing industry's service providers.
Kudos to: Sally Rogers, UC Davis MIND Institute professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences
Accomplishment: Her autism research is named among the top 10 medical breakthroughs of 2012 by Time magazine
Details: Rogers' "Early Start Denver Model" intervention is found effective for improving cognition and language skills among very young children with autism, normalizing brain activity, decreasing autism symptoms and improving social skills.
Kudos to: Cary Trzcinski, Sacramento County sheriff's deputy
Accomplishment: Recipient of a Sacramento County Hero of Human Services award
Details: Trzcinski was instrumental in creating the Sacramento Sheriff's Activities League, a program designed by law enforcement to help youngsters reach their full potential. SAL is a juvenile gang and crime prevention program that relies on athletic and academic efforts to develop a bond between deputies and youths. Trzcinski also works as a volunteer youth sports coach in Elk Grove.
