A light rain fell overnight, the prelude to a week of unsettled weather.
The National Weather Service reported that the week is likely to have periods of both sun and rain. Showers today are likely to give way to mostly sunny skies on Tuesday and Wednesday.
But then, on Thursday and Friday, rain is likely to return.
The overnight rainfall totals were slight in the Sacramento region. As of 6 a.m., a windy, cold and wet night had delivered these totals: .12 in Elk Grove, .13 in Sacramento, .12 in Rancho Cordova, .07 along Prairie City Road in Folsom, .20 in Fair Oaks, .16 in Orangevale, .12 in Rio Linda, .12 in Roseville, .12 in Lincoln and .20 in Auburn.
