Cavegrrl sips her way through Lodi's St. Amant Winery
If you've never heard of St. Amant Winery, here's an introduction. It is located in Lodi where lately, especially the last three years, some of my favorite red wines have originated. I first discovered St. Amant wines at a tasting at Treasure Island (in San Francisco) during Fleet Week. I had the St. Amant Barbera and I thought it was the best red wine there. So, my recent interest in local tempranillos has me searching around Lodi to see what I can find. It's becoming a more and more popular varietal there.

Baked Bree makes chocolate flan cake
This cake is part delicious dessert and part science experiment. I was watching the Food Network one morning and I watched Marcela Valladolid make this cake she called it chocoflan and it amazed me. You pour this cake into a pan caramel sauce, cake batter, flan mixture. But when it bakes, the cake ends up on the bottom and the flan rises to the top. They don't combine, they switch places. Insane.
