Cooking class for kids
Geared for ages 9 through 15, this hands-on cooking class for kids will teach recipes for old-fashioned sugar cookies and chocolate-peppermint bark cookies. Vanilla bean ice cream and organic candy canes will be given as treats.

Oatmeal celebration
In honor of National Oatmeal Month – yes, such a thing exists – the Valley Hi-North Laguna branch of the Sacramento Public Library is hosting a free oatmeal festival for children. Activities include eating oatmeal cookies, making modeling compound (like Play-Doh) out of oatmeal and educational activities.

Beer dinner
