Re "There are no easy answers to solve problem of gun violence" (Viewpoints Dec. 19): Ruben Navarrette criticizes gun-control advocates for rallying so soon after the Sandy Hook Elementary School killings. He thinks it is disrespectful to the victims and writes thjat "Americans are not thinking yet. We're feeling."
Feeling and thinking are not mutually exclusive. I feel deeply for the victims and their loved ones. I cried and prayed for them. But I also thought: What is wrong with our country that assault weapons used in war can be purchased legally by the average American citizen?
