Re "Police officer held in sexual attack" (Our Region, Dec. 21): As a neighbor and friend of the woman with brain damage from a stroke who was allegedly sexually assaulted by a police officer, I am appalled that I never believed her; neither did my other neighbors who are also appalled by their behavior.
A few years ago another woman on the property used to accuse almost every man who walked around here of raping her; numerous police investigations discounted her claims. This time, in spite of all of the skepticism that the police encountered around here, the police investigators went by the book, worked with the woman's family and caught the perpetrator.
I am bawling as I write this, thinking how my neighbor and friend must have felt that we did not believe her. Everyone should be proud of the diligence of the investigating officers of the Sacramento Police Department. As a former Marine, I salute you.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.

You also may notify us via email at feedback@sacbee.com. Note the headline on which the comment is made and tell us the profile name of the user who made the comment. Remember, comment moderation is subjective. You may find some material objectionable that we won't and vice versa.
