To help those wounded by the Syrian regime, Sacramento's Syrian community is holding a fundraising event tonight to establish field hospitals in Syria.
The Northern California chapter of the Syrian American Council's fundraising dinner is 6 p.m. to 9 at the Sunrise Event Center, 11167 Trade Center Dr. in Rancho Cordova.
This event is co-sponsored by the Syrian American Medical Society, which is a non-profit, non-political humanitarian group. According to the local Syrian American Council news release, SAMS organizes an annual medical convention in Syria providing medical care to disadvantaged patients.
The Syrian American Council (SAC) was founded in 2005 to promote educational, civic and economic development, as well as to advance civil liberties and human dignity in Syria, the group said. SAC has 19 chapters in the United States.
