Re "We can and should curb AR-15 sales" (Marcos Breton, Dec. 23): If Marcos Breton wants a rational and substantive public discussion about advancing gun control, he should start by abandoning his emotionally charged efforts to demonize the National Rifle Association. It's not productive and certainly not educational.
Instead of ascribing improper motives to the NRA, explain why its proposal won't work. Instead of equating gun sales to blood money, describe how the NRA proposal isn't financially feasible.
Instead of inaccurately claiming that the NRA is going against legal precedent, set forth the law that prohibit Americans or their elected representatives from adopting the NRA proposal.
The public needs the pros and cons of all proposals that might save innocent lives in the future, not more vitriol.

• Do not use the commenting system for advertising. That's spam and it isn't allowed.
• Don't use all capital letters. That's akin to yelling and not appreciated by the audience.
• Don't flag other users' comments just because you don't agree with their point of view. Please only flag comments that violate these guidelines.
