My partner and I, both in our eighties, decided to ride Amtrak to Emeryville on Dec. 23. Amtrak staff told us there would be a shuttle to transport us from the depot to the train. There was no shuttle available, and we had to walk to the train.
Rain and wind gusts were so strong that I literally was knocked face down on the wet pavement. My partner helped me up and I walked the rest of the way to the train.
I boarded the train and asked for ice pack for my knee. Upon arrival at Emeryville, my knee was so swollen that I could not walk, and I ended up in the emergency room for x-rays. If Amtrak had provided the shuttle this event would not have happened.
