Re "Four modest resolutions for 2013" (Letters, Dec. 28): I read the resolutions for the new year and once again asked myself, "What's wrong with this country?" This is what I have come up with. We have become a nation of people who blame others for the consequences of our own actions. I don't know why anyone should be surprised at this.
Children are not taught how to lose, only that they are all winners. When they grow up and enter life they don't know how to handle rejection, and everyone knows life is full off rejection and loss. So they blame others for their failing because they don't know how to handle it. Here's a resolution: Take responsibility for your own actions. Teach the youth of today that actions they take have consequences that are nobody's fault but their own and in life they will lose sometimes.
