Leading Off: 49ers' first playoff foe won't be easy

Who would you like to see the 49ers play in the NFC divisional playoffs after San Francisco sits out wild-card weekend?

The Green Bay Packers, who the 49ers beat in the season opener? The Seattle Seahawks, who split two games against the 49ers? Or the Washington Redskins and Robert Griffin III?

A 49ers-Vikings meeting in the divisional round is not possible since the top-seed Atlanta Falcons will host the lowest seed (Minnesota, if it beats Green Bay in a wild-card game).

The 49ers beat the Packers 30-22 in Week 1 on the road, frustrating quarterback Aaron Rodgers for most of the game. Rodgers still threw for more than 300 yards.

With Alex Smith still at quarterback in Week 7, San Francisco edged Seattle 13-6 at home, in which the 49ers defense held the Seahawks to just two first-half field goals. The Seahawks, however, blew away San Francisco 42-13 late in the season at Seattle, where 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had trouble overcoming the noisy venue.

The 49ers beat the Redskins on the road last season, but that was before the arrival of RG3, the NFL's Rookie of the Year front-runner. Griffin is the kind of mobile, strong-armed quarterback that gives the 49ers – and most teams – fits.

Working in the 49ers' favor is that they'll host the divisional playoff game at Candlestick Park, where coach Jim Harbaugh's record is 15-3, including the playoffs. Two of those losses were against the New York Giants.

What to watch

NBA, Kings at Detroit, 4:30 p.m., CSNCA: The Kings look to extend their winning streak to three games.
