Re "Texting and driving is a deadly combo" (Editorials, Jan. 1): It's time for lawmakers to be imaginative and bold. A $159 fine is peanuts. If caught, offenders should be fined a minimum of $2,000 dollars, have their automobile confiscated and sold at public auction, have their license revoked for three years and be required to complete 500 hours of community service. Yes, it would put a crimp in their social and work-life, but it might save lives.
