Re "Citizens should arm selves" (Letters, Jan. 2): Regarding letter writer Doug Gravelle call to arm yourselves, how exactly would this have worked in New Year's Eve bar shooting?
In his ideal world, would we all be carrying weapons at that bar? In a panic, would everyone draw and fire? Would there never be mayhem when a bunch of drunks or bullies decide to pull guns on each other in a brawl?
Or would people fire on whoever they suspect is dangerous? I'm trying to imagine how this works practically speaking, because as I see it, the whole idea of knowing that many civilians are carrying concealed weapons, in any emotional state of mind, is terrifying.
