CLEVELAND – Tyreke Evans will rejoin the Kings in Toronto after a visit with a knee specialist in Los Angeles supported the team's current rehabilitation plan, the team announced Wednesday.

Evans will continue with his rehabilitation with the goal of playing on the Kings' five-game homestand that begins Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Evans met with Dr. Steve Lombardo about his sore left knee. Evan has missed 14 games since bruising the knee Nov. 27 when he bumped knees with Minnesota forward Andrei Kirilenko.

Evans last played Dec. 16 against the Denver Nuggets. He met with Lombardo for a second opinion after being unable to play against Boston on Sunday.

"It's a huge boost for us and for him," Kings coach Keith Smart said. "He had settled into a really nice role."

Evans finished last season at small forward after playing point guard but shifted to shooting guard and was beginning to find his niche. He averaged 21.6 points in five games before leaving the Nuggets game.

"We also miss him from a defensive standpoint with his size, what he was able to do defending those bigger (shooting guards), sometime (small forwards)," Smart said.

Evans is averaging 15.1 points this season, second on the team to DeMarcus Cousins' 16.6. The Kings have relied on Francisco Garcia and Jimmer Fredette to fill the void.

"Some of our guys have responded very, very well when some of our guys have gone out," Smart said. "We have so many perimeter players who manage to do certain things that kind of sustain things."

Evans, however, is probably the most dynamic player the Kings have in transition with his combination of size and acceleration to the basket.

If the Kings can play at a fast pace, Evans should be able to excel in the open court.

"Tyreke brings something completely different to our team," Smart said. "You can miss that for a short period of time, but over a long period of time it's probably not going to be good for you."

Pistons' Villanueva fined – Detroit forward Charlie Villanueva was fined $25,000 for his flagrant foul 2 on Kings guard Isaiah Thomas on Tuesday night.

Villanueva caught Thomas with a forearm while he was airborne attempting a layup. Villanueva was ejected from the game.

Injury update – Marcus Thornton (sprained left ankle) missed Wednesday's game in Cleveland, his second game in a row. He was wearing a walking boot for the injury suffered Sunday against Boston.
