The suspect fatally shot by a Citrus Heights police officer Wednesday has been identified as 20-year-old Hunter Todd.
Police also have identified the suspect who was with Todd at the time as 36-year-old Richard Martin Duran. Duran was arrested on suspicion of attempted car theft, burglary of a car and possession of burglary tools, according to a police news release.
Duran also had two warrants out for his arrest, one for possession of burglary tools and the other for a traffic matter, police said.
About 2 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 8000 block of Debbie Ann Court after a caller reported a possible car theft in progress.
An officer confronted one of the suspects and at some point feared for his safety and shot the suspect, police said.
The second suspect was located nearby in a car that did not belong to him, and that suspect - now identified as Duran - was arrested.
