The Sacramento area will take a break from winter rain this afternoon and through Tuesday, bringing patchy fog Monday just in time for the morning commute.
The first rain of 2013 arrived Saturday night and dumped .83 inches of rain before dissipating this morning in downtown Sacramento, said Johnny Powell, meteorologist for the National Weather Service.
That precipitation pushed the seasonable rainfall total to 12.89 inches of rain. That's 159 percent of normal since the season began on July 1, Powell said.
Look for the next storm to reach the Sacramento area on Wednesday and continue into Thursday.
By Friday, the dry weather returns and is expected to stay through the weekend, Powell said.
