Re "Giant-size toy" (Sports, Jan. 9): I planned what should have been a fun trip Sacramento City Hall to see the San Francisco Giants World Series trophies. I surprised my two boys, ages 7 and 9, and one of their friends by pulling them out of school a little early so they wouldn't miss out on this special occasion.
Dressed in their favorite Giants attire, and excited to see a piece of Giants history, they were amazing troopers for standing in line for more than three hours. My oldest son kept busy by chanting "Let's go Giants!" He even got the crowd chanting.
We were literally steps away from the entrance when the doors were closed and locked. My youngest son was in tears on the way home. Both of my boys are devastated, and I'm left trying to repair two broken hearts. -- Tracy Doney, Lincoln
