No. 15 Oak Ridge's bid for an upset over No. 3 Pleasant Grove fell apart in the fourth quarter in tonight's Delta River League boys basketball opener in Elk Grove.
The Trojans led 26-23 after three quarters but were outscored 14-3 in the final period of Pleasant Grove's 37-29 throwback win.
Malik Thames had 10 points and Matthew Hayes and Marquese Chriss eight each for Pleasant Grove (14-3). Connor Sunde topped Oak Ridge (10-8) with 12 points.

NO. 8 GRANT 69, MONTEREY TRAIL 56 - De'Sean Parsons had 25 points and Malek Mitschem added 14 as the Pacers (12-5) defeated the Mustangs in the Delta Valley Conference opener in Del Paso Heights. Leondre Lintz led Monterey Trail (9-9) with 26 points.
No. 16 DAVIS 62, ELK GROVE 56 - The Blue Devils overcame a slow start, falling behind 17-8 after one quarter, to beat the Thundering Herd in the Delta Valley Conference opener in Elk Grove. Grant Dickerson led Davis (10-6) with 15 points and Brandon Strong and Hayden Russell each added 10 points. Hasani Reese led Elk Grove (10-8) with 11 points and eight rebounds.
No. 17 JESUIT 56, PONDEROSA 47 - Six-foot-eight Brady Anderson and 6-6 Lake Lutes combined for 34 points to lead the Marauders (9-8) in the Delta River League game in Carmichael. Trevor Hammitt had a game-high 20 points for Ponderosa (7-10).
