A Sacramento Superior Court jury on Wednesday convicted Ignacio Bulahan of first-degree murder in the May 19, 2004, knife-slashing murder of Thyotis Jackson in Oak Park.
Judge Maryanne G. Gilliard scheduled the sentencing for Feb. 8 on Bulahan, 36. He is facing a sentence of at least 25 years to life.
According to testimony at trial, Jackson, 22, was a cross-dressing prostitute whom Bulahan had propositioned outside a store on Broadway near First Avenue.
A dispute arose when Jackson informed Bulahan he was a man, and Bulahan slit Jackson's throat in the ensuing fight.
