Re "He just said 'no' to 'cliff' solution" (Dan Morain, Jan. 6): Dan Morain notes that Rep. Tom McClintock's cramped style of politics serves his interests well, if not his constituents. Yet in nearly the same breath he allows that he won re-election in November with 61 percent of the vote.
One does not have to take sides to conclude that McClintock's election history since 1982 disproves the notion that his long, consistent history re government spending does not serve the interests of his constituents. The real problem with McClintock's voting record seems to be that it does not serve the interests of The Sacramento Bee.
